  • hey homer, kep, ira, dara, justin, craiger, courtney…whoever else read this

So, I’ve been thinking, yeah, i do that a lot.  But, I know I need to get abroad next year.  Life is literally starting to pass me by these past few months, been home for a week now, just browsing programs on the internet.

Today, I decided to be a bit more serious about living on a kibbutz.  My mom didn’t freak when i said it, which is a good thing because she must know that i’ll be making 0 money and odds are she’ll keep paying my health insurance, which is the only thing keeping me from being not just a bum, but an independant self-sufficient bum.  She even looked at the website for a bit, which is pretty huge.

So…do you guys know anyone whose ever been on a kibbutz?  Just curious.  I hear it’s not what it used to be in terms of true social living, I think some things like food and laundry are done by private companies now, but, it’s still an experience of living w/ people from all over the world that sounds cool.

Gonna watch Motorcycle Diaries tonight.  Probably get a bit more inspired to travel and flee this neoliberal capitalist country, actually, just travelling is fine.

  • aum/om… it’s the universal vibration, in short.  it is the energy with which everything is made/comes to be.  ya know how when making fun of people meditating, people make that ‘oooommmm’ sound?  yep…

so, first off post some of your travel questions at couchsurfing.  you’ll get much better and probably quicker responses than on here.  i’ll be in scotland for two weeks for the Edinburgh Festival.  good times:)  my budget is ridiculously limited.  the bulk of the money i’m spending went to the plane ticket.  i’m bringing luna bars to eat and i’m staying with friends for next to nothing.  i’m thinking about hopping over to belfast for a few days but nothing’s concrete.  i’ll just be playing it by ear.

the motorcycle diaries is AMAZING.  if that doesn’t inspire you to travel i don’t know what will.

  • You don’t need to go to live on a kibbutz. Just flag down a ride to Burning Man, or the Rainbow Gathering that’s going to be somewhere east of the Appalachians this year. Or come up to the PNW and go to the Oregon Country Fair, or something. Anything. There’s no shortage of opportunities. You don’t have to move to another continent to leave behind inertia.

And if you really, really want to find out what to do with your life, you should go to Alaska and work as a fisherman. Then you’ll get an idea really, really quick.

‘Motorcycle Diaries’ is a great movie.

  • hmm…don’t know anyone yet who has lived in a kibbutz. Would be good to get overseas though. The motorcycle diaries is a good movie…

  • I don’t know about the kibbutz. But I think that you are ready for a drastic change. I think that these past couple of months has been your head trying to tell your heart that. I say, do what you not only feel need to do, but do what you long to do. There is no better time to do it than right now. Whether you are waiting for a sign or not. The Motorcycle Diaries is a beautiful film. Let it inspire you. Have confidence in the fact that the universe is unfolding just as it should, whether you are aware of how or why. Have faith.

  • i will be at an event this weekend with someone who has.  i’ll try and remember to ask her

  • ahahaha noooo i’d definately get it in sanskrit!!!  it’s really beautiful…

the festival has arts from all spectrums… theater, i think films, music (this year they’re kicking the fest off with a blues and jazz week or something…), art… and of course partying.  it’s a month long fest that virtually tranforms the city.  i hear it’s fantastic!!

i just bought a round trip ticket to scotland and back.  i was originally planning on a one-way ticket and leaving my trip open ended but i have limited finances (and a full time job) right now so an extensive european trip is just going to have to wait… unfortunately…

i’m glad you enjoyed the movie!  doesn’t it just move something inside?  follow your heart, dude.  you’ll be fine.  oh, and read BLINK.  it’s about our unconscious, our intuition, and the split second decisions we make and it’s awesome.

so what are your summer plans?
