Topic: The day after tom.
I just saw this movie, and it’s all about the possible environmental disasters caused by ignoring environmental concerns in favor of economic conerns. It paints America in a pretty pathetic light. It shows our ignorance of the environment, our ignorance of foreign countries which we may one day come to need, as well as our inability to admit, “we don’t know, we’ve made a mistake.”
I’m sure most people checking out my site are liberals, but, is there any reason to support George W. Bush for another term. Is there anything to be optimistic about, as an American citizen. The world dislikes us, we are still a threat of terrorism, education is as it was 4 years ago, the environment is at is was 4 years ago. I hope there’s some conservatives who visit my site who can tell me, “Why should we give bush 4 more years and not give the democrats a shot?”

I’m a liberal so my opinion might not matter on this one… But sometimes I wonder if Kerry would just be a puppet if he were president. I actually supported Bush until all of this Iraq mess. Before that I actually liked the presidency he was giving us. He was handling the 9/11 crisis very well for his first year in office.
dan – kerry is a schmuck. i think a lot of liberals are blinded by their hatred of bush that they can’t see that kerry (discounting his social policy, which would provide a marked improvement) is going to fuck up our foreign policy just as badly (not worse – i hardly think it’s possible to get worse). I agree with bill up there – he will be a puppet. the key to having the democrats in office is to have the right aides at kerry’s side. (and i stand my vote for jon edwards)
being president these days requires someone of power, conviction, strength and determination. that’s why clinton was so good (despite that whole blow job thing) – he wasn’t afraid of his advisors – and if he was, he didn’t let us see it. and i think that’s what you need. i’m starting to think that i’ll vote for nader. i think nader would be a damn good president, though i don’t agree with much of his platform.
i know that you read a lot of michael moore – but keep in mind, michael moore is just as bad as bill o’reilly, moore’s just on our side. don’t get me wrong, i like moore, but you have to be able to step back and see that he, like al franken, consistently bashes the conservatives for bashing the liberals - and neither side can see that such bashing is just utterly pointless.
on that note – i think watching fahrenheit 9/11 will be really important for our country, but the conservatives have already starting bashing it – saying it isn’t real. well, after taking a class on the history of the middle east during the whole 9/11 scare, with a professor who was blacklisted by lynn cheney for being pro-Islam (he isn’t – but i love that he was blacklisted – he loved it too – and he got a phone call from CNN that very morning asking for background advice) i can tell you that moore speaks the truth in that movie.
i have many conservative friends – and most of them can’t even give you a reason as to why they support what they support. for a lot of conservatives our age, it’s more of a mommy-daddy sort of thing (“well my dad is a republican….) or they are fiscal conservatives (which I hardly think flies at this juncture in time). but one of my really good friends from berk-town is a hardcore republican (she’s working for the congressman responsible for impeaching clinton) and she’s going to the republican national convention. when i see her, i’ll ask her and i’ll let you know.
(sorry that was so long)
